What You Practice In Private, You Will Be Rewarded In Public

It’s 6pm on Tuesday and I’ve been working on reviewing my editor’s work since 5am and I am finished, save for a few tweaks, Chapters 6 of 8!!

My nature is to be out there talking and connecting with people.

I ran across this excerpt out of Chapter 5 which is quite timely and a great message to keep me going in front of my laptop computers.

In a wonderful book called, The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, the shepherd asked the alchemist if there was anything that he still needed to know.

“What you still need to know is this: before a dream is realized, the Soul of the World tests everything that was learned along the way. It does this not because it is evil, but so that we can, in addition to realizing our dreams, master the lessons we’ve learned as we’ve moved toward that dream. That’s the point at which most people give up. It’s the point at which, as we say in the language of the desert, one ‘dies of thirst just when the palm trees have appeared on the horizon.'”

My test was last week’s computer melt down. In the past, I would have had a complete meltdown over this, my past computer meltdowns ( and I have had a fair share ), a reflection of the lack of clarity in my mind in the past. The main computer is still in the shop and I have created a complete work-around it with the work on the book I am happy to say.

May tomorrow bring success and completion of Chapters 7 – 8.

BTW – I’m just finishing Paulo’s newest book in English translation called Brida.
