Travel Day 6 Of 14 – It’s All So Civilized

As the British Airways flight attendant announced we will be serving you a hot meal at the beginning of the flight and breakfast an hour before you land, Laura exclaimed “It’s all so civilized!”

The service of British Airways was outstanding and we had an excellent flight to London and with all said and done, we were settled in our hotel at the Marriot London Kensington at 9am BST on Friday morning, June 1st.

Now the trick was to get acclimatized to London time by staying awake until 8pm PST so that we can get a full night’s sleep and wake up on London time on Saturday, June 2nd.

We filled our day starting with a trip to Starbucks and then to the grocers to buy some fruit, sandwiches and water. Again, Laura once again choose an excellent hotel location as Starbucks and a mega grocer are right across the street.

Then we took the Tube to Inner London and filled our day with a River Tour of The Thames and walked for hours seeing sites that included Big Ben, Covent Gardens, Piccadilly Circus, The Parliament Buildings, Trafalgar Square and more and that only skimmed the surface.

The key was to stay awake as we had about 3 ½ hours of sleep the night before on the flight and as long as we kept moving today, we were alright and if the walking wasn’t working to keep us awake, the Starbucks managed to kick in.

Saturday will be filled with more tourist activities, a dinner with an old friend and then a play. I’m enjoying loosing myself in the city of London with the incredible thongs of people. The British people really know how to put on a city with there high and enthusiastic energy.

I’m wrapping up this Blog as it is just after 6pm here in London … we still have a few more hours to stay awake so that we don’t wake up in the middle of the night.
