Thank You

Thank you for all of the kind thoughts and words that I have received upon the passing of my mother Irene on Tuesday, April 27th.

They say that parents know their time and like my father, my mother picked an off week from coaching calls to pass away which gave Laura and I some time to deal with our feelings and to make funeral arrangements.

At the same time, I had three financial advisor speaking presentations last week. One was on the Tuesday before my mother’s passing and the other two were on Thursday and Friday.

One wise friend’s message was to remember the happy memories and thoughts surrounding my mother and another’s was to celebrate that my mother made it to the ripe old age of 90 and another message reminded me of the drive and the passion that my mother gave me.

I admit that I was wondering what my energy would be like in advance of speaking last Thursday.

This is especially true because I always start my speaking presentations with a parable that goes back to when I was eight years old with my mother saying “I don’t want to worry you”.

At the same time, I felt that I could not go out and speak without mentioning that my mother had just passed away and again I was wondering how I would be with my emotions around my mother’s passing in front of an audience.

So doing the right thing I introduced the parable as follows …

They say that wisdom enters through the wound and the core of the passion to serve is based on life experience both positive and negative and the best advisors / coaches / speakers seem to have the deepest scars.

The life experience equipped them with the knowledge and the skills to pass onto other people to help them move forward.

The experience via the parable gives one something interesting to say to help others to get to know the advisor / coach / speaker.

So to prepare I journaled and here is part of it; Forgive me for forgetting that my mother provided me with the passion to help to make a difference in people’s lives.

My parable was introduced by the following at both Thursday’s and Friday’s financial advisor speaking presentations with; My parable has more definition this morning as my mother passed away peacefully in her sleep at 90 on Tuesday, April 27th.

Thank you again for all of your kind thoughts and words via e-mail and FaceBook.
