Marketing Channels Of Distribution

It’s Sunday, July 25th and Laura and I are returning home from Niagara Falls via Toronto-Vancouver, Vancouver-Nanaimo just in time for the Season 4 Premiere of Mad Men.

Mad Men is my favourite show because this is where The Unmet Needs Disease went into the early stages of going viral from magazines, billboards, radio to a few TV channels and now we have hundreds and hundreds programming us to no end.  It is intriguing to see the early days of the sultans of spin who weave the message that if you have this one thing, you can have individuality, self-determination and liberation … as long as you are puffing on two packs a day of Lucky Strikes and starting to chug back the Bourbon by noon to dull the pain of your empty life.

This summer’s programming also includes NBC’s new reality show, Breakthrough with Tony Robbins and I’m looking forward to seeing what Tony’s programming is all about .

Mad Men and Breakthrough will be via PVR of course. I just can’t handle the commercials. It blew my mind when I first fast forwarded through 12 commercial when first starting to use the PVR.

Good for Tony with hitting the TV big leagues as we all have to find ways to increase our distribution channels.

I thought it was interesting when Jeff Bridges got a nomination and went onto win an Academy Award for Best Actor in Crazy Heart while doing voice over TV commercials for Hyundai at the same time … that one slipped through as I must have liked the sound of his voice. I found it even more interesting to see that Jeff is taking the stage at the Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort to perform songs from his movie Crazy Heart, his album Be Here Soon and more. Jeff is also known for his roles in The Fabulous Baker Boys, The Big Lebowski, Seabiscuit and Iron Man.

So we all have to find or continue to develop our distribution channels and one or two just don’t cut it in the new normal.

August marks the 36 month since the sub-prime mortgage crisis began and one off marketing doesn’t cut it anymore … you have to be on a lot of channels and my coach and friend Chris Barrow reminds me that it is best to have many channels that include coaching, facilitating, speaking and writing and when combined, they are all a hit.

It amazes me that we are distributing our message though 35 channels of marketing distribution that include; Advocis, articles, blogs, books, Brokerages, Career Agencies, centers of influence, clear your roadblocks branding, clear your roadblocks workshops, direct mail, DVD, e-newsletters, Independent Financial Brokers, key words, Life Insurance Companies, live coaching, MGAs, Mutual Fund Companies, Mutual Fund Dealers, niche marketing, one on one coaching, pay per click, Pro-Seminars, referral card, search engine optimization, show reels, social networking, speaking, speaking folio, team building workshops, testimonials, The Million Dollar Round Table, trade show booth, vlogs  and web pages.
