I’m On Block Time

Too much to do and too many distractions seems to echo though most of us.

My reply to all of this is the sign on my office door that reads “I’m On Block Time From 9am – 11am and I’m happy to talk with you after 11am”. What I am really saying here is; “STOP! Do not interrupt me as I am making phone calls to prospective clients and I am using everything in my power to use my clear and determined focus to call my prospects and I do not want one glimmer of a distraction no matter how important it seems to be. You can interrupt me if it is life and death.” I set the stage for zero interruptions for prospecting calls by NOT leaving messages – if the prospect is there when I call then they are there – that way I don’t have inbound prospecting calls coming in when I am making outbound prospecting calls – the danger is I will make a mess of both of the outbound and the inbound calls if I try to do both of them at once.

The Block Time Sign can serve as a boundary to client calls and e-mails and members of your family, friends and team that just need a moment of your time. We can also use the image of the Block Time Sign to create a boundary to our well meaning conscious mind that bombards us with a steady stream of to-dos. To be fair to the conscious mind that bombards us with a steady stream of to-dos when you are on Block Time, have an 8 ½ x 11 tablet of paper on your desk to jot down your ideas for FUTURE ACTION.
