I Am Not My Computer!

Amusing myself with a picture of my Vancouver airport office on Wednesday evening on my way back from London, ON in Vancouver, BC at 9am PT / 12 midnight ET … I’m awaiting a 10:45pm PT / 1:45pm ET flight to Nanaimo, BC and I’ll be home by 12 midnight PT / 3am ET … ouch.

It’s so funny how disruptions with our computer systems can trigger negative behaviors, emotions and thoughts, if we let them.

I have attached an e-mail to the bottom of this Blog that I sent Simon Parsons at 10am ET on Wednesday morning … the challenges with our computers systems continue with the printer and power point.

Sidebar – Simon Parsons has done an excellent job of helping me set up a computer system that helps me to run my business, coach, speak and write from virtually anywhere. The reason that I say this is the computer challenges that we have been facing have nothing to do with Simon. It is the complexity of our system and this has become very evident with wiping the hard drive clean and re-installing all of the data, drivers, passwords and software on the tablet PC.

I’m inspired to write this blog because I am noticing that a number of my clients are experiencing computer difficulties at this time of year.

Disruptions with our computer systems can trigger negative behaviors, emotions and thoughts because with the use of our computers, we unload our minds into the computer and when the computers don’t work, we have to be so careful that we don’t transfer the limiting beliefs and emotions about the computer not working onto ourselves “that we are not working”.

Hi Simon,

I tried to set up the new printer this AM.

I thought that I would try it without installing the drivers given that the existing printer has the same drivers.

After plugging in the computer I get a message that the printer is not connected and that the printer is offline and to check that the printer cable is connected and the printer power is on.

So I tried to install the new cd / drivers.

It will not let me because there is an existing newer set of drivers.

I deleted the existing drivers.

It still will not let me saying there is an existing set of drivers.

I tried to re-boot – no difference – same message that the printer is not connected and that the printer is offline and to check that the printer cable is connected and the printer power is on.

The power point would not work with today’s presentation. I followed your instructions. A view did come up on the projector, just the Microsoft XP Logo on the right hand side without the regular icons on the left … while the power point was onscreen on my tablet.

I am working on the phone with clients until 12 noon so you can connect to fix the printer if you like … I will set up the tablet with my projector when I get home and we can figure this one out next week.

Thanks for your help.

Simon
