Happy Anniversary & LOL From 35,000 Feet

We did it! It is our one year anniversary of our Blog! Our first edition was February 26, 2005.

Laura and I completed our Marketing Retreat on Friday.

The one major distinction that we came away with is to have Quadrant A, B & C Marketing.

* Stay true to my marketing niche; Professionals – Financial Advisors, Accountants, Lawyers and Real Estate & Business Leaders
* Produce a speaking intro CD/DVD and distribute
* Become a celebrity in my niche
* Be the speaker, not the attendee, at niche related association, company, conference, MGA and wholesaler events
* Speak in Vancouver, Victoria, Kelowna, Edmonton & Calgary for 2005
* Identify strategic alliance partners / sponsors – who are the top companies?
* Delegate & write a sales and marketing assistant job description
* Attend LARGE niche related events and write follow up niche related articles and receive the data base
* Read industry publications and write follow up niche related articles
* Write a niche and topical related book – AdviseVersusSell.com / AdviseVsSell.com
* Get coached by a speaker’s agent

Well almost LOL. The reason that I say LOL is because of the first line. It took me until December of 2005 to get this right.

The line now reads;

* Stay true to my marketing niche; Financial Advisors

Versus –

* Stay true to my marketing niche; Professionals – Financial Advisors, Accountants, Lawyers and Real Estate & Business Leaders

Last week was a testimony that this is now true because we were invited to speak at two Advocis Education Days this Spring and I’m following Jim Rogers in one of them.

So let’s see how well we did on the rest.

* Stay true to my marketing niche; Professionals – Financial Advisors, Accountants, Lawyers and Real Estate & Business Leaders – Complete December 2005
* Produce a speaking intro CD/DVD and distribute – Will Start This Week
* Become a celebrity in my niche – Given that we have spoken 3 times this year and through these we have been invited to speak at 5 more – this is starting through the quality of our work
* Be the speaker, not the attendee, at niche related association, company, conference, MGA and wholesaler events – Complete. The only reason that I would attend is to soak up more about the issues that are going on in the industry. An example is Advocis Professional Development Day – March 6, 2006
* Speak in Vancouver, Victoria, Kelowna, Edmonton & Calgary for 2005 – Not Quite. We are booked from coast to coast in somewhere around 30 engagements in 2006
* Identify strategic alliance partners / sponsors – who are the top companies? – We have great relationships with FM Financial Management, Pro-Seminars and Advocis is starting to bubble. Next step – ID the next ones.
* Delegate & write a sales and marketing assistant job description. – Complete, but not how I thought. Laura has emerged as an excellent Sales & Marketing Person. It helps when we are both in love and on the same team. Laura has attracted clients through her own independent efforts and I can see the day that we will be hiring a Sales & Marketing Person and an Administration Assistant for both of us. Laura really knows our work and will be providing value to clients on here own
* Attend LARGE niche related events and write follow up niche related articles and receive the data base. – Ongoing and events are booked
* Read industry publications and write follow up niche related articles. – Somewhat. Next action is to list the publications and block out time to read
* Write a niche and topical related book – AdviseVersusSell.com / AdviseVsSell.com. – The title has been changed to “Being” An Advisor – it is about “being” then doing
* Get coached by a speaker’s agent – Hired & not the right fit. Not sure if we will need one as word of mouth is starting to take hold. We can re-visit after the book is complete. We may be able to do this through sponsorship
