“Consciously” Work Hard & “Consciously” Play Hard

It’s 5:23am PT on Monday, April 4th and I’ve been awake since 4am.

I’ve been at my desk since around 4:30am PT after completing my daily meditation … “don’t start the day without it”!

The reason that I referred to PT is I am not 100% sure if I am back on PT yet after starting my day at 5am ET in Ottawa last Friday.

I’ve been writing about energy and consciousness management in my March blogs:

On the eve of my 56th birthday, coming off of my 55th birthday, born of the 5th day of April in 1955, not that I am some kind of numerologist, I’m seeing this as a turning point and I’m thinking even more about the concepts of energy and consciousness management as I head into April.

I’m looking at my calendar for April with the 1st and 3rd week of April being two solid weeks of coaching ( Tuesday – Friday ) and the 2nd week of April is a Buffer Week with three speaking presentations in the middle of the week. We are off to Nuevo Vallarta on the 4th week of April for an 8 day holiday.

Including today, I have 19 days before we leave on April 23rd and I have the following creative business development projects that I want to do before the end of the month:

  • Learn Camtasia and produce one or two Vlogs
  • Submit the One Page Business Plan PowerPoint Presentation for CE Credits through Advocis
  • Improve my Blogging to make it more Advisor Profession / Practice Management Centric
  • Improve our Coaching Welcome Package
  • Complete our COI / HNW Marketing Plan
  • Produce & deliver a presentation for BrightTALK / Thought Leadership Live
  • Complete Maximizer 11 Upgrade
  • Make a decision about attending Strategic Coach
  • Purchase an iPad or Tablet PC
  • Hire a contractor to produce my E-Books on-line

… All of the above sets the stage for the next steps in the Leading Advisor – Plan * Practice * Profit Coaching Program

So not a lot of time if you take 19 days, minus 8 coaching days, minus 3 Buffer Monday’s, minus 3 Buffer speaking / travel days, minus 4 weekend days = 1 clear Buffer creative business development day.

So what to do?

In my personal development journey I’ve worked with / come into contact with some really extraordinary people and learned of some very interesting creative strategies to make the most out their energy and time to complete business development projects and these include:

  • Waking up at 3:30am ( 5 days a week ) and meditating for an hour and then starting the day and going to bed at 8pm – for some advisor brokers this isn’t that all that far off of the mark
  • Working round the clock for 21 hours ( every once in a while ) which means starting the day at 8am and working through to 5pm the next day

Am I going to adapt the above strategies?

Nothing that extreme.

What I am going to do is commit to working for the next 19 days straight, full on during the week days and half days on the weekends until we leave for Nuevo Vallarta on the 23rd.

This reminds me of an expression from back in my days of working with Tony Robbins; “if it is going to be, it is up to me”.
