Another Go At Voice Recognition

Isn’t it funny how the price of technology comes down over the years?

Four years ago we invested the best part of $8K in a dedicated laptop (with enough RAM) and Dragon Naturally Speaking Voice Recognition Software to automatically record my voice and then automatically convert it to text as this would be very useful for writing books, e-newsletters etc. Four years ago, no go – it was more trouble than it was worth – at the same time I didn’t have the kind of time that it required. Bottom line it didn’t work.

Simon Parsons let me know that a new product is on the scene which is a Sony 256MB IC MP3 Recorder that converts voice to text using Version 8 of Dragon Naturally Speaking Voice Recognition Software for $340.00 CN.

I purchased one last night and installed all the software on my Gateway Convertible Notebook Tablet PC. Next step is to Train the Dragon Naturally Speaking Voice Recognition Software to my voice and then we will give it a go to see how it works.

More info to follow.
