6 Degrees Of Separation

I am shamelessly using an idea from Chris Barrow who has been one of the valuable coaches that I have worked with over the years.

You can read through this Blog article to read Chris Barrow’s insight on 6 Degrees Of Separation and for a definition on 6 Degrees Of Separation.

The idea is that we are just 6 relationships away from connecting with the person that we are looking for.

Do you know anyone that is looking for a speaker for their next financial services association meeting?

Do you know anyone that is looking for a speaker for their next financial services business meeting?

Do you know of a financial advisor that would benefit from working with me as their coach?

In Chris’s latest E-Newsletter he wrote;

I need your help- 6 degrees of separation

You may have heard of the book “The 6 degrees of separation” that proposes that we are never more then 6 people away from a person we want to contact. If you wanted dinner with Brad Pitt or to play football with David Beckham, it would only take a maximum of 6 relationships to connect with them.

Well I am asking for your help to find someone – the slight extra problem is that I don’t know who it is – and I need your help with that too!

Later this year I want to take to the road with a free seminar for UK dentists that will introduce a revolutionary new business management concept to them.

I’m not telling you what that is yet – but it is going to change the face of UK dentistry in the next 5 years – for the better by the way.

I want a “celebrity” to head the tour. Not a show-business or sporting celebrity – a business celebrity (and before you go there, if you know Sir Alan Sugar or Donald Trump I’ll pass thanks – The Apprentice is the most despicable business programme I have seen on TV).

I’m looking for somebody whose name on the flyer and in the media will have dentists flocking to the seminars to see what it’s all about. I don’t want a dental celebrity because we have already seen the top 50 of them and I don’t think any of them (including me) fit the bill.

I’m also looking for somebody who would be interested in getting their name involved in the most innovative idea that dentistry seen in a generation. I’m not looking for money/investment – I don’t want an investor – I want a non-executive business partner who can bring the experience of running a multi-million pound professional services firm with a national brand.

I know – you are thinking Richard Branson aren’t you? Well if you know someone who knows him, let me know.

Who do you know – is it Anita Roddick (who has a bit more time now and fewer friends)? Is it James Dyson (wonderful suction)? Is it Philip Green (the retailer, not the periodontist)?

Who is it?

Six degrees of separation is the theory that anyone on earth can be connected to any other person on the planet through a chain of acquaintances that has no more than five intermediaries. The theory was first proposed in 1929 by the Hungarian writer Frigyes Karinthy in a short story called Chains. The concept is based on the idea that the number of acquaintances grows exponentially with the number of links in the chain, and so only a small number of links is required for the set of acquaintances to become the whole human population.
