Laura and I visited to Ecuador November 22 – 30, 2013 to meet Andrea and Michael, the children that we sponsor through Compassion. Based on the feedback that we received from our Facebook friends, I’m going to be sharing my travelogue and pictures via my blog over the coming weeks. We hope that you enjoy them.
Feeling emotionally and physically exhausted after one of the saddest experiences that I have ever witnessed. What is better… brick, cardboard, straw or wood? Obviously brick and while unfinished, this brick house that was recently built by the church in Rocafuetra, Ecuador is better than a house of cardboard. Laura, Karen, David and I visited the mentally challenged mother with 6 children that occupy this new home on Wednesday, November 27th. We provided 100 lbs of groceries along with hope, prayers and continued support. In some ways this parallels and deepens my understanding of my father’s tenacious drive for a better life that got him out of the mid 1950s poverty and despair of Ireland.
