We have just come off of a Staycation and it is safe to say that we have top marks for experiencing everything that is on this list that I posted in the following blog ( we will split our Staycation week between our home in Parksville and visiting Laura’s mom Helen in Victoria spending our time cycling, kayaking, gardening, reading, relaxing and visiting friends ); Here Is What We Are Doing On Staycation 1 Of 2 This Summer; July 22 – August 2
The stage was set for this Staycation and a Productive Summer using Buffer Days in the excerpt that I wrote on May 16, 2011 from my; Plan • Practice • Profit – May 2011 E-Newsletter
I wished that I could stay in this peaceful bliss and waste away my flight to Toronto watching movies ( which I rarely do ) but alas I cannot as I wish to make an extra conscious effort to jump start myself to prepare for this week’s financial advisor speaking at the IFB ( Independent Financial Brokers Summit, financial advisor telephone coaching, and a few COI appointments while I am in Toronto.
This extra conscious effort is also going into re-focusing me on this complete list of projects:
- June 30th Extra Income Goal To Create Reserve For The Summer
- Review Sales Activity Calculator On A Weekly Basis
- Review & Act On Maximizer Opportunities / Hot List & Prospecting Calls
- Draft & Send Referral Campaign To Current & Past Clients
- Draft & Send Past Client One Page Business Plan E-Mail Introduction
- Fine tuning my One Page Business Plan PowerPoint presentation for the IFB (Independent Financial Brokers ) Summit again on Wednesday, May 18th
- Creating a 3 hour Clear Your Roadblocks PowerPoint / Workshop for delivery for Edward Jones in Victoria, BC at the end of the month
- Creating a 1.5 hour One Page Business Plan PowerPoint / Workshop for delivery for Desjardins Financial in Victoria, BC at the end of the month

- Purchase Book Summaries To Improve Blogging
- Upgrade Coaching GYM Weekly E-Mails
- Upgrade Coaching Welcome Package
- Write E-Newsletter June
- Standardize Prospect Enrolment Questions
- Re-Send One OPBP Progress Report & Scorecard
- Information Management Plan Update
Please don’t get overwhelmed with the above list because most of the above is near completion as I’ve been investing time in this for a while now. This is so that I’m free to use my extra time while I will be off the financial advisor speaking road in July / August to complete the last of my creative /product/re-invention projects related to more scalable practice management coaching systems and the marketing of same … more on this at another time.
So to today’s present day Project List that I am investing my Summer Buffer Days into and I have included a 1 – 10 rating, 10 being the highest in respect to the level of completion.
- Good financial reserve to allow us to focus on the following – 8
- Strong financial advisor speaking bookings for the fall – 9
- New midyear One Page Business Plan – 9
- New Information Management System in place using Dragon Naturally Speaking – Upgrade to iPad to follow – 8
- Re-Brand Leading Advisor – 9
- Product Content Development , Organizing, Packaging and Website – 8
- Improve Prospect Data Management – 6
- Edit Client Pricing and Terms – 7
- Upgrade Coaching to include One Page Business Plan Progress Reports & Scorecards and Welcome Package – 7
- Complete Social Media Course – 9
- Write Social Media Plan – 8
- USA financial advisor speaking marketing plan – 7
- Write One Page Business Plan Marketing Plan to Past Clients – 5
- Implement Referral Campaign with Clients – 5
- Write COI & HNW Prospect Marketing Plan – 5
- Hire On-Line Business Manager – ( on hold )
- Create Show Reels to include; BrightTALK, Camtasia, SlideShare, SMA Web Seminars, Vlogs – 3
In my mind, there is no 10. At the same time I am being a very hard marker and marking myself rather low. The reason that I say this is all of the planning work for the above is complete and draft copy is written so I believe that it will be easier to get from 5 – 9 than it was to get from 0 – 5.
With 80 Hours of Buffer Days until September, there is still loads to do … and there is another Staycation Week booked for the end of August so that we have balance in our lives.
Thanks for letting me indulge myself in this blog to acknowledge and track my progress over the past few months.
