Canadian small businesses will embark on the ride of a lifetime to deliver Canada’s Longest Elevator Pitch – (Toronto,ON) May 09, 2011
Visa announced today the launch of ‘Canada’s Longest Elevator Pitch’ contest, which gives Canadian small business owners the opportunity to win a $10,000 credit on a Visa® Business card. The contest invites Canadian small business owners to compete for a chance to present their best elevator pitches to a panel of small business experts in the most fitting location – during an actual 60-second elevator ride in Toronto’s luxurious One King West Hotel and Residences.
“If fate ever placed you in an elevator with your dream investor, making a successful elevator pitch is the key to a strong first impression,” says says Matthew Corrin, Founder and CEO of restaurant chain, Freshii, and judge for Canada’s Longest Elevator Pitch. “Small businesses are the backbone of Canada’s economy, and having a short and powerful pitch describing what your business does and how it disrupts the status quo is one of the most important tools a successful business owner can have.”
Pitch for the Chance to go Up…Up…and Get Paid!
Until June 20, 2011, small business owners across Canada are invited to submit a 1000-character elevator pitch online at www.visa.ca/gobiz for a chance to win $10,000. Five finalists will be chosen by a panel of judges who are no strangers to what it takes to build a strong business from the ground up, including Sarah Prevette, founder of Sprouter.com, an online counseling platform for small businesses and start-ups; Daniel Klass, Venture Capitalist and owner of Klass Capital; Stéphane Lavallée, vice president, Business Solutions Division, and publisher of Groupe Les Affaires at Media Transcontinental as well as Matthew Corrin.
“Visa is giving small businesses the opportunity to make a pitch to help grow their business,” says Brenda Woods, Head of Marketing, Visa Canada. “It will be exciting to see the ideas contestants bring to the table – or in this case, the elevator.”
The finalists will present their elevator pitch to the judging panel during a 60-second elevator ride on July 12, 2011. The winner will then be announced at a reception being held at One King West Hotel and Residences, and will be featured on www.visa.ca/gobiz in addition to receiving a $10,000 credit on their Visa Business card.
