Paul B. – “It is great to see that Leading Advisor is walking its talk.”
The smartest thing that we did in 2010 was schedule the first week of 2011 for planning.
That means no administrivia, blogging, coaching calls or prospect calls.
The unmet needs based mind is addicted to security drives negative beliefs like “I don’t have the time to take the first week of the year off to plan” and drive negative emotions like anxiety and fear.
The values based mind honours the value of abundance and inspires positive beliefs like “I have an abundant amount of time” and “for every hour that I invest in planning my year, I will receive one hundred hours in return” and inspire positive feelings like certainty, confidence and conviction.
Step 1 – Schedule The Time
This reminds me of the second smartest thing we did in 2010 and that was to book a one week holiday in between September and December. Reflecting back when I was pool side somewhere between November 13th – 20th in Nuevo Vallarta, I thought that by the time I get home I will have been on the road 28 out of the last 35 days and I was not really aware as I should have been that I really was in need of the rest. This is why we recommend Step 7 – Design Your Time Management Plan in advance of the year as part of your planning process for 2011.
Step 2 – Empty Your Mind & Empty Your Office
I’m a firm believer in the Empty Your Mind Process. I took it one step further over the holidays and I Emptied My Office of everything that was not current.
Step 3 – Vision
An Empty Mind & Office creates the space for Vision.
Imagine looking back from December 31, 2013 and ask yourself:
- What did you accomplish?
- What goals did you set and achieve?
- What made you happy?

Step 5 – Create A Budget Cash Flow
A budget cash flow means a 12 month spreadsheet that starts out with the opening cash balance, less all expenses including taxes, plus income equals ending balance carried forward and so on. This process helps me to get honest about the sales that are required and this leads to the next step.
Step 6 – Create A Sales Activity Calculator
Here is a simple example of a Sales Activity Calculator.
speaking presentations per month |
attendees |
attendees total |
closing rate from attendees to appointment |
sales appointments |
closing rate from sales appts to clients |
number of sales |
x $ per sale |
sales amount |
