High Price Of Gas = Time To Increase Marketing Compression, Injection & Turbo Charging

Then again, gas is still so cheap they are giving it away!

July 1st, Canada Day, marks the province of British Columbia as the first jurisdiction in North America to have consumer-based carbon tax of 2.4 cents per liter.

I guess that is the price we pay for living in a free country. Apparently the tax is tax neutral as it is said that our provincial income taxes are going down. To help offset the cost of the carbon tax, lower income households will receive a new Climate Action Credit. They will receive $100 per adult and $30 per child per year, paid quarterly with the Goods and Services Tax Credit.

For Laura and me, our carbon foot print is rather low as one of the benefits of the coaching industry is that we work with clients over the phone and we do not commute to work. One could argue this that I have done over 200 flights in two years to public speak to nearly 10,000 financial advisors. Could you imagine the price of the fuel if I drove out to see each and every one of them?

So today’s price at the pump is $1.42 per liter for regular and $1.53 per liter for premium and converting liters that’s $6.46 for a regular imperial gallon and $6.96 for a premium imperial gallon and $5.46 for a regular US gallon and $5.89 for a premium US gallon while gas in the US is only a mere $4.35 per regular US gallon.

I saw a video exclaiming that gas in the UK is $10 per gallon.

For curiosity sake, I Googled “ranking of oil imports to USA” and nearly fell off my chair to find out that Canada was the number one oil exporter to the USA in 2004.

When we complain about the Canadian price of gas, “they”, whoever “they” are reply that “we have to ship the gas a lot further because of the size of our country”. This makes a lot of sense. We have to pipe our crude to the USA only to have “them” sell and ship it back to us for 25% more. But this is the way it has always been with Canada exporting a tree to import a tooth pick in return.

So with Europe’s high price of gas, I believe that we in North America will have to and want to take their lead with 4 cylinder, high compression, fuel injected or turbocharged engines to lower emissions, increase performance and gas mileage.

At the same time, if you don’t want become a business dinosaur you will have to become extraordinary at implementing high compression, injected and turbocharged strategies to brand and niche market your business because you don’t have the energy, fuel and time to waste.

I better get back to writing the workbook for the book.
