For me, Easter is not another “festival or retail”.
Easter is a time for reflection, forgiveness and celebration.
I saw an excellent article titled “Healing by forgiveness” in the Saturday, April 15th, 2006 Vancouver Sun.
Here are a few of the paragraphs that really stood out for me.
If you would like a copy of the entire article, please e-mail me and put “Healing by forgiveness” in the subject line and I will send you a copy.
Forgiveness leads to benefits, mostly stress-related, that include:
– Less depression.
– Lower blood pressure.
– Less cardiovascular disease.
– Lower levels of a hormone called cortisol, which is a sign of a body under physical attack by long-term stress.
– Stronger immune system.
– Less back pain.
His five-step method is designed to break the self-perpetuating cycle of anger: He calls it the REACH program: Recall the hurt, Empathize with the one who hurt you, Altruistically decide to forgive, Commit publicly to forgiveness and Hold on to the forgiveness.
