Marketing for financial advisors can be an overwhelming project to take on as there are so many components that can make up your overall strategy.
Despite popular belief, you don’t have to spend thousands of dollars on fancy programs, stock images, or agencies to do the work for you.
If you can dedicate 1-2 hours a week to using these free tools and have the consistency to stick with your written plan, you’ll realize marketing success is more attainable than you have previously perceived.
As with learning any new skill, you won’t be an expert the first time you use them, but over time, you’ll be able to use these free digital tools to amplify your marketing and connect with your target audience.
Canva
Canva has quickly grown since its inception in 2013 as a free graphic design platform that now has over 55 million active users around the world.
There is both a free and paid version that can allow you to create presentations, social media graphics, business card designs, and more.
With free templates, an easy-to-use interface, and thousands of tutorials both on the platform and on YouTube, this is the hub of anything graphics-related for beginners.
Facebook Business Suite
If you’re only using Facebook and Instagram as platforms for your posts, you can use the Facebook Business Suite to schedule them up to 6 months in advance, absolutely free.
You can also schedule stories and have a visual layout of what your post will look like in case you need to make some changes.
Free Image Sourcing Sites
While Canva has built-in stock photography you can access for free, sometimes you may not find the right image you’re looking for. We’ve put together a list of sites that you can use as a resource to find free photos to use for any Ads, print material, slideshows, social media posting, and more.

Hotjar
Offering valuable information on your website to attract your ideal clients is the foundation of a financial advisor’s marketing. After all, people will want to research who they are working with, and the first place they’ll go is your website. Using a free service like Hotjar helps you zone in on what matters. Wherever a user clicks on your website, you’ll be able to see what they’re doing through heatmaps, recordings, and more.
This comes in handy when you want to know what makes a reader pause, how much of a blog post they read, and what they’re clicking.
Buffer or Hootsuite
If you plan on integrating Twitter, LinkedIn, or any other social media platform into your marketing plan aside from the classic Facebook & Instagram duo, free services like Buffer or Hootsuite can help you schedule your posts.
While the free versions are limited, you’ll be able to schedule at least ten posts ahead of time with one social profile allowed per platform.
MailChimp
MailChimp is an email marketing platform that brings you audience data, insights and lets you design aesthetically pleasing marketing campaigns. The best part – as long as you have under 2,000 subscribers, it’s absolutely free. You’ll have access reports that can help you tweak your email campaigns to connect better with clients and prospects.
