Financial Advisor Marketing – Open Your Mind

I’m reflecting on the notion of “open your mind or someone else will”. This leads me to “time to change my attitude”.

Readers of my blog know that I believe in journaling and that I use the blog to post some of my personal journalings to demonstrate by example.

It’s 2pm ET on Wednesday, October 01 and I’m at the Toronto airport awaiting a 4:45pm flight to Winnipeg where I will be speaking on behalf of Pro-Seminars at 9am CT on Thursday morning.

Thursday will include a meeting with the principal of a speaker’s bureau and I will be catching a 4pm CT flight home.

I’m taking Friday off to take care of some significant things like pruning the hanging baskets and plants, sweeping the garage and washing off the patio.

All of these are a form of celebration for a successful road trip of speaking and meeting centers of influence about speaking opportunities. So far, I am in discussion about five speaking opportunities to some brand new audiences.

Two more big reasons to celebrate are the following that I accomplished during travel and hotel time between gigs and appointments;

• I have reviewed the copy editing for my book for what I believe is the last time.
• The web site copy has been edited to match my new book and the web site editing has been forwarded to our web master for our new web site

Here is why I am writing about it is time to “open your mind or someone else will” and it is “time to change my attitude”.

To enable me to complete the book and a new web site over the past four months, I have been pouring an enormous amount of energy into adapting and changing my natural behavioral style to focus 1001% on the book and the web site when I am not working with clients.

This means becoming more results driven, more bottom line, more matter of fact, more laser focus and increasing my standards because we are launching a book and web site on the world stage. Another reason is I wasn’t willing to let the book and web site linger into the summer of 2009 which is what happened in the summer of 2007.

With the publishing plans in place for the book and web site I feel like I can take my foot off of the gas now and let the team take care of the rest.

Getting back to my natural style will allow me to be open to listening to and acting on marketing ideas for the book and speaking via my right brain values of sense and wisdom.

Some of that sense of wisdom is flowing through right now to just allow the natural force of attraction to point the way towards the ample opportunities that we have to make a difference through coaching, speaking and writing.

The book and the web site are both milestones that were worth the behavioral adaptation.

Now it is time to go with the flow and more of my natural behavioral style.

To this end and for some fun, I did an analysis of where my time has been going over the past four months.

51% – Book & Website
30% – Clients & Sales
10% – Articles, Blog & E-Newsletter
5% – Planning & Organization
3% – Speaking & Speaking Preparation
1% – Financial Controls

What is the bottom line?

The bottom line is we have created a fantastic marketing funnel that continues to generate warm calls and new clients calling us.
