2011 Planning – Know When To Quit

My how time has slowed right down and so has the perceived urgency of all the business building projects that I have / had on the go. I’ll leave the business building projects aside for now.

The benefit of my induced urgency is I feel like I am miles ahead with business building projects in preparation for 2011.

At the same time, it feels odd that I don’t have any more financial advisor speaking trips scheduled this year, that I don’t have any more financial advisor speaking powerpoints to produce this year, that I don’t have any more financial advisor speaking presentations that require CE Accreditation under the 2010 Advocis / CLU Institute and that I don’t have any more financial advisor speaking transcriptions to complete like the 40 page transcription that was required to qualify to speak at the 2010 MDRT annual meeting in Vancouver.

If the above wasn’t enough, I guess ones time could get a little accelerated with being on the road for 28 days out of 35 days. Granted 8 days were on holiday in Mexico, but I was still on the road 20 days out of 28 days doing financial advisor speaking presentations combined with coaching calls and business building projects.

So why take on the business building projects? My friend Pat told me that one is either creating or consuming. In my mind, one must be creating in the new normal because one can easily get consumed if they are standing still.

Then again, one can get consumed with too many business building projects. 🙂

The two for one 80 minute couples massage at the Dreams Villa Magna in Nuevo Vallarta on the first day of our holiday was a welcome gift in a number of ways.

The massage felt like the best one that I have ever had … at the same time, the masseuse worked on my back for ages and ages and ages … I thought “I’m sure I told the masseuse that I wanted a full body massage” … and I made a point of surrendering that the massage will be absolutely perfect whether I get an amazing back massage or a full body massage … and the 80 minute massage turned out to be a full body massage which felt like a 240 minute massage … and one part of me was still accelerated thinking that I couldn’t wait to get off the table and the other was slowly melting into the most relaxing holiday that I can remember.

So today’s blog is about Knowing When To Quit which Seth Godin talks about in his book The Dip.
