The 20-Point Day, A Tool To Use To Maintain Peak Performance

Over the past 12 months I have spoken at NAIFA State Conferences in California, Georgia, Montana, New Hampshire, North Dakota, South Carolina, Washington and West Virginia delivering an expanded version of The Inspirational Tipping Point TEDx Talk that I did in April of 2013;

I always do my best to stay for the entire conference to listen to the extraordinary speakers at the NAIFA State Conferences.

Laura and I were fortunate to have the opportunity to listen to Bob Nelson’s Presentation at the NAIFA California State Conference in San Francisco on June 4th, 2014.

Bob’s Presentation included The 20-Point Day, a tool used to obtain and maintain peak performance, and I am taking the liberty to share it with you.

2014-Advanced 20 Point Days

If I want to change the results that I am getting, I’ve got to change the things that I am doing. The 20-point day is the tool I use to obtain and maintain peak performance.  It is not about “grand slam home runs”… it is about making the most out of each day in a deliberate, yet flexible way.

Success is nothing more than a few simple disciplines, practiced every day; while failure is simply a few errors in judgment, repeated every day. It is the accumulation of both that leads us to either fortune or failure!

3 Points: Focused organizing of my day, at least 15 minutes to set real priorities.
3 Points: Clearing emails, not replying but deleting most and prioritizing the rest.
1 Point: Making a telephone call to arrange a business appointment.
2 Points: Setting an appointment; in any way (phone, email, in person).
2 Points: Extraordinary service beyond “routine” (it required my extra time).
2 Points: Obtaining a “qualified” lead from any source.
3 Points: Casework – I have made it ready to present to the client/prospect; or I have completed a major step to significantly advance a case.
4 Points: Reading that will enhance my business success (could be coursework).
4 Points: Conducting a face-to-face business meeting, regardless of outcome.  Opportunities arise from activity! I must maximize those opportunities.
5 Points: Completing a sale; an app is signed, a client says “yes,” app kit is sent.
5 Points: Exercising for 30+ minutes… if I do not stay healthy, the rest doesn’t much matter.
10 Points: Meeting with CPA, Attorney, P&C agent to discuss business development.
15 Points: Completing a sale and the annualized revenue is in excess of $10,000.
Note: Tomorrow I start all over. There is no carryover.  Make each day count!
Good Luck!
