Sharing Our Baggage

Laura and I got back on Thursday evening May 21st from an 8 day trip to St. John’s, NL and Toronto and I was not adjusted to Pacific Time as of Saturday afternoon. The NL 4.5 hours is a challenge.

What’s funny is this pic of our baggage ( books, files, portable electronic office and tradeshow booth – 🙂 some carry on isn’t even in the pic ) at the Toronto airport is less baggage than when we started our trip to St. John’s NL on May 20th because we sold a bag of books ( 50 ) through the speaking dates that I did in St. John’s NL and Toronto.

I’m beginning to wonder about this niche marketing thing especially when our country is 5,000km wide and about 100km high population wise ( just me writing this blog on jet-lag ) … it would be one hell of a lot easier if we lived in California where the same population base is a hour jet ride no matter where you are. The good news, one more speaking presentation to Advocis Toronto on June 17th and that is it for speaking until September – one of the joys of the financial advisor niche that most financial advisor speaking gigs happen January, March – June and September – November leaving February, July, August and December off the road.

( Note that I am writing a blog and a posting for Facebook at the same time. )

Tons has happened since my last post ( on Facebook ) at the beginning of May that includes the trip to St. John’s and Toronto, two new PowerPoint presentations completed called The Compassionate Advisor and The Six Degrees Of Life Insurance Connection ( I hope because the PowerPoints take 50 – 100 hours each – but alas, I am writing a custom workshop for a client and it will require a PowerPoint presentation ), we picked up Shadow last night, and as I am writing this I am turning this into a give thanks list for the month of May.

So it is Saturday morning on Paradise Vancouver Island and Laura, Shadow and I are off to Qualicum Market and the nursery to pickup our hanging baskets and we are going to enjoy the weekend with quite time at home.

What do you do with a new puppy on Saturday afternoon when Laura has gone to the store? You let him sleep on your desk while you finish writing your blog.
